In this crazy time in our world, connections have become even more important than before.
Connections and relationships was a huge theme during Selena Soo’s event last weekend. And they sure aren’t a one way street, are they?
Nope!
This was hands down the best event I’ve attended here in 2020. Big props to Team Selena – whoop whoop!!
We had killer speakers like Ramit Sethi and John Lee Dumas, freaking Ahhhhhmazing break out rooms and I made a ton of crazy good new connections.
I was in some high octane company for sure…so imagine my surprise when one of the women in a break out room said “Hey – I’m on your list and just got an email from you!” (Hey Rachel! Waving at you!!!)
Say WHAT????
You could’ve knocked me over with a feather.
I mean – I look at my open rates and all the other stats.
I celebrate every new opt-in. Oh ya!!!!
I try not to take unsubscribes personally (OMG They hate me!!! Sniff sniff)
Getting to talk to someone who lets me into their inbox AND who isn’t my Mom…WOW! That was an eye opener and made me feel blessed beyond words.
But it also drove home the 3 V’s that I’m going to always keep top of mind regardless of whether it’s an email, Facebook, blog or just a coffee chat.
Visibility – as the face of my brand and to succeed in my mission, I know I need to be visible. You can’t help people if they don’t know about you or can’t find you.
Vulnerability – Just being visible brings a certain vulnerability, especially for us introverts. Genuine connection means you have to be open and honest about the good, the bad AND the ugly. Ummmm…that opens a whole new level of vulnerability, right?
Value – Always always always provide value — be of value. And tons of it!
To build those honest relationships, you need all three.
They’re like a 3 legged stool. Short change any of them and the stool wobbles or just falls over. I’m enough of a klutz without tempting fate that way. LOL
Uncomfortable at times – YUP!
Was I uncomfortable during Selena’s event?? Oh HELL YA!!
BUT…
It was soooooo worth it and I can’t wait to do it again!
Heyyyyyy…here’s another amazing V…
This event was Virtual.
Who would’ve guessed that we would be able to have that type of intimate, enlightening experience at a completely online event. Wowzers!
I’ve shared mine – now you share yours. What’s the best event you’ve attended this year?
